Have you ever been to Kronstadt? This small town is located just 30 km from Saint Petersburg, and its fame has resonated since its foundation up to the present day. For over 300 years, Kronstadt has been known to people far and wide. Peter the Great founded this town—a fortress and port—in 1704 to protect Saint Petersburg from enemies approaching from the Baltic Sea during the Great Northern War. The excursion lasts 45 minutes. Welfare beneficiaries (students of higher education institutions, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, citizens of blockade Leningrad, disabled persons, large families, orphan children) have a right to visit the museum for free, but should pay for the excursion in the museum and for other service. Pensioners schould bring their pension certificate. Visitors with Petersburg Card get free admission to the museum during the card validity. 2) Exposition "Secrets of Sink Ships" (Leningradskaja str. 2)
The exposition of the History Kronshtadt museum "Secrets of Sink Ships" is located in the building of an old water pipe tower on Leningradskaja street 2. It comprises unique items raised from the battleship Portsmouth, frigate Oleg, battleship Gangut and other warships and trade vessels. These weapon and household items lay on the bottom of the Gulf of Finland for over 300 years and they are witnesses of the past epochs and national heritage of Russia. Kronshtadt is a town of sailors. Ships were constructed and equipped here; they used to leave the town to long way and round the world trips. Some of the ships never returned, but stayed in the sea forever. However memory of these ships was kept in the minds of the families and friends of the perished sailors. Therefore, the first museum of shipwrecks is preparing to open its doors exactly in Kronshtadt. Entrance fee
